Law Notify, January 15, 2026 : The Madhya Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 concluded on Wednesday in Bhopal, marking a key milestone in aligning state-level innovation with India’s national artificial intelligence roadmap. The event was jointly organised by the IndiaAI Mission, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The conference is part of a series of eight Regional AI Impact Conferences being held across the country ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from February 16 to 20 in New Delhi. The Bhopal edition showcased practical AI use cases and governance models aimed at improving public service delivery and strengthening institutional capacity at the state level.
A major outcome of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Madhya Pradesh and the IndiaAI Mission to expand AI education and skilling across the state. Under this collaboration, 30 Data and AI Labs will be set up in Madhya Pradesh in partnership with the Department of Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment. These labs form part of a larger national initiative to establish 570 such facilities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The conference also saw several important launches and announcements. Four new citizen-centric digital portals were unveiled, alongside MoUs with organisations including Youngovator, CEEW, Google, nasscom, AISECT, and BHASHINI. Another major highlight was the launch of the Madhya Pradesh SpaceTech Policy 2026, inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The policy focuses on satellite manufacturing, geospatial technologies, and downstream applications in sectors such as agriculture, disaster management, and urban planning, reinforcing the state’s push towards technology-enabled governance and industrial growth.
Addressing the conference, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state views AI as a powerful tool for improving administration, public services, and industrial efficiency. He noted that Madhya Pradesh would continue to provide policy support to strengthen the AI ecosystem across sectors such as mining and healthcare, aligning with India’s broader vision of AI-led growth.
In his opening remarks, Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at MeitY and CEO of the IndiaAI Mission, highlighted India’s growing global role in technology. Referring to platforms like Aadhaar, UPI, and India Stack, he said India has demonstrated how digital public infrastructure can transform governance, and that the IndiaAI Mission aims to extend this leadership into the global AI ecosystem.
Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Anurag Jain, in his state address, underlined that the state’s AI priorities are closely aligned with national objectives ahead of the India AI Impact Summit. He pointed to startup pitches and technology exhibitions at the conference as indicators of the direction Madhya Pradesh is taking in AI-led development, adding that AI is critical not only for governance but also for long-term economic prosperity.
The event also featured the announcement of winners of the MP Innotech Contest and the Ujjain Mahakumbh Hackathon, reflecting the state’s emphasis on innovation, startups, and talent development. A dedicated presentation titled “AI for People, Planet and Progress: Madhya Pradesh’s Roadmap to Impact” outlined the state’s strategy for responsible and inclusive AI adoption.
Detailed sessions on the IndiaAI Mission and its core pillars were presented by senior officials from MeitY and the IndiaAI Mission, covering areas such as compute infrastructure, data platforms, application development, skilling, startup support, and responsible AI practices.
Panel discussions during the conference focused on themes including technology-led governance, AI for economic growth and social good, and building resilience and efficiency through innovation. Officials from the Centre and states, along with representatives from industry and academia, shared scalable AI use cases across agriculture, education, skilling, and digital governance.
