Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant has stressed that long-term cybersecurity cannot be achieved without making citizen education a central priority. He was speaking at the inaugural session of a three-day National Conference on “Cyber Security – Awareness, Protection and Inclusive Access to Justice” at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur.
Addressing judges, officials and legal professionals, Justice Suryakant said cybersecurity must be treated as a shared responsibility. According to him, the government, the judiciary and society at large need to work in coordination to effectively tackle the growing threat of cybercrime. He observed that the digital revolution has brought significant convenience by streamlining governance, public services and communication. At the same time, the misuse of digital platforms has created serious risks.
He clarified that cybersecurity is not limited to safeguarding bank accounts or financial transactions. It is equally about preserving institutional trust and protecting the credibility of systems that citizens rely on every day. He expressed confidence that the judiciary would actively discharge its responsibility in confronting cyber threats and ensuring that justice mechanisms evolve with emerging challenges.
Bhajanlal Sharma, who also addressed the gathering, said that rapid technological expansion has led to new forms of cybercrime. He underlined that public awareness remains the most effective defence against such offences. Announcing concrete measures, he said the state government will establish special cyber courts to ensure stricter and more focused handling of cybercrime cases.
The Chief Minister further stated that the three new criminal laws introduced by the Central Government are being implemented effectively in Rajasthan.
During the event, the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority launched an online mediation and Lok Adalat platform named “E-Samadhan” and released a handbook on mediation, aimed at strengthening access to justice through digital tools.
