The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) convened the 109th meeting of the Network Planning Group in New Delhi to assess major infrastructure proposals aimed at strengthening the country’s logistics network.
The meeting centered on improving multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency in line with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. Officials reviewed two rail projects along with one metro and one airport project to examine their alignment with the core principles of integrated and coordinated infrastructure planning.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the projects were evaluated for their ability to enhance last-mile connectivity to key economic and social hubs. The focus was on ensuring seamless integration across transport modes to support faster movement of goods and passengers.
The ministry said that once implemented, these projects are expected to improve logistics efficiency, reduce travel time, and generate substantial socio-economic benefits for the regions within their catchment areas.
