    February 27, 2026 : The Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka, said that the true purpose of education is not limited to earning a livelihood but to gaining knowledge and wisdom that contribute to the development of society as a whole. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the fourth convocation ceremony of Amity University Chhattisgarh, held at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur.

    Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized that change is a constant part of life and education plays a key role in bringing positive transformation. He said that if education enables us to improve the lives of those who are left behind in society, then our lives become meaningful and successful. According to him, good education is essential for achieving the goals of development.

    Referring to the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, he encouraged students to remain connected with their inner conscience so they can distinguish between right and wrong. Listening to one’s inner voice, he said, prevents wrongdoing and leads to true self-satisfaction. He added that life should have a clear purpose and that education should be approached with a holistic vision. While education teaches us to use technology to improve our lifestyle, we must also contribute to society, the nation, and our institutions.

    Speaking about the New Education Policy, the Governor noted that it has opened opportunities for people of all ages to pursue degrees of their choice. He said that in the rush of career building, people often forget their passion. Life is not only about earning money; it is also about happiness and self-fulfillment. Therefore, he advised students to follow their passion along with their professional goals.

    During the ceremony, degrees and medals were awarded to 816 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. Several meritorious students were honored for their outstanding performance. Eight students received the Shri Baljit Shastri Award, 31 students were given the Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan Award, and 20 students were awarded Gold Medals. Sonal Dhomne (B.Tech CSE) was honored with the Best All-Rounder Trophy for her remarkable achievement.

    On the occasion, Ms. Mansi Madan Tripathy, President of Shell India and Senior Vice President of Shell Lubricants Asia Pacific, was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) by the university.

    Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President of Amity University, urged students to define a clear purpose in life and contribute towards the vision of a developed India by 2047. Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chairman of Amity University Chhattisgarh, stated that the university has equipped students with values, perspective, and technical skills necessary for success in life.

    The event was attended by the Registrar, faculty members, deans, professors, students, and their families in large numbers.
