March 01, 2026 : China has called for an immediate ceasefire following military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel, expressing serious concern over the escalation and urging all parties to return to dialogue.
In a statement issued yesterday, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Iran’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity must be respected. The ministry appealed to all sides to avoid further escalation and to resume negotiations at the earliest opportunity, warning that continued confrontation could destabilize the broader region.
China’s state-run news agency sharply criticized Washington’s actions, describing the use of military force as a clear violation of the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. It said the strikes marked a departure from the fundamental norms governing international relations and risked undermining global stability.
Amid rising tensions, China’s embassy in Israel issued an advisory to Chinese nationals, urging them to move to safer areas within the country or consider leaving for Egypt through the Taba border crossing as soon as possible.
At the same time, China’s Foreign Ministry advised Chinese citizens in Iran to depart without delay. It identified four land routes for evacuation, directing nationals to cross into Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, or Iraq.
The developments reflect Beijing’s growing concern over the expanding conflict and its potential impact on regional security and Chinese citizens abroad.
