March 03, 2026 : The Union government has issued a cautionary advisory to all States and Union Territories in the wake of the recent Israel-US strikes on Iran, warning of the possibility of unrest in parts of the country.
Sources said the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has written to State administrations, asking them to remain vigilant and closely monitor any developments that could trigger law and order issues. The communication specifically calls for the identification of individuals, including pro-Iran radical preachers, who may be delivering inflammatory speeches or sermons that could incite tension.
The Centre has stressed the need for enhanced intelligence coordination between central and state agencies. It has urged authorities to step up surveillance, share inputs in real time, and take preventive measures wherever necessary to ensure that the situation remains under control.
The advisory reflects concerns that international developments, particularly in West Asia, could have ripple effects domestically if not handled proactively.
