Modi Speaks to Bahrain King Amid Missile Attacks | LawNotify.in

March 03, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke with Bahrain’s King, Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and strongly condemned the recent missile and drone attacks on the Kingdom. He conveyed India’s solidarity with the people of Bahrain and thanked the King for the continued support extended to the Indian community there.

In a post on X, Modi said he had a productive conversation with the Bahrain monarch and reaffirmed that India stands with Bahrain in this difficult period. He also expressed appreciation for the care and cooperation shown toward Indian nationals residing in the country.

Earlier, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said its air-defence systems intercepted multiple projectiles launched towards the Kingdom. According to official figures, 61 missiles and 34 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed and neutralised. Authorities stated that all defence systems remain fully prepared to respond immediately to any further threats, as reported by Bahrain News Agency.

The General Command described the use of ballistic missiles and UAVs against civilian infrastructure and private property as a serious breach of international humanitarian law, particularly the principles of distinction and proportionality. It said such attacks pose a direct threat to regional peace and security.

Bahrain reiterated its right to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security. Residents were advised to remain cautious, stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, and rely only on official sources for information. Authorities also urged the public to avoid rumour-mongering and keep away from affected sites.

On Sunday, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said an Iranian strike had targeted a maritime facility near Salman Port, with Civil Defence teams working to contain a fire at the site.

The escalation follows joint US-Israel strikes on Iran aimed at degrading Tehran’s missile capabilities and broader military infrastructure. The initial phase of that operation reportedly led to the death of senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting retaliatory drone and missile attacks across the Gulf region. – IANS
