March 08, 2026 : On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Kota, Raipur, turned into a lively centre of sporting spirit as more than 500 young girls and women participated in athletics competitions under the ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action) initiative. The event was organised through a collaborative effort of MY Bharat, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), aiming to encourage women’s participation in sports and fitness.

Raipur Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey attended the programme as the chief guest and appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm. She highlighted that sports play an important role in building confidence, discipline and leadership qualities among girls. Mr. Arpit Tiwari from MY Bharat Chhattisgarh also addressed the gathering, reiterating the organisation’s commitment to supporting the holistic development of youth. The event was coordinated by more than 25 MY Bharat volunteers who ensured smooth management of the competitions.

The athletics meet featured 100 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre races across different age groups. In the 200 metre races, Reshma Sahu, Jyotsna Dhruv and Malti Banjare secured first positions in their respective categories. The 400 metre races saw Monti Sahu, Kiran and Aditya Kashyap claim the top spots. In the 100 metre sprint, Dileshwari Pal and Kiran Patel delivered standout performances to finish first in their categories.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the MY Bharat volunteers whose coordination helped conduct the event successfully. The ASMITA initiative is being organised across 250 districts in the country, encouraging young girls and women to pursue sports and adopt a culture of fitness and empowerment.
