March 12, 2026 : India has welcomed the decision of the International Energy Agency (IEA) to release emergency oil reserves in response to the ongoing disruptions in global energy supplies. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that India, as an Associate Member of the IEA, remains actively engaged in international energy cooperation.
The ministry noted that India is closely monitoring developments in global energy markets, particularly the situation in the Middle East, which has contributed to uncertainty in oil supply. It added that the country stands prepared to take appropriate measures to support stability in global energy markets, in coordination with the efforts of the International Energy Agency.
