Rs. 1.15 Crore Compensation Awarded in National Lok Adalat for Fatal Road Accident Case in Kondagaon

March 15, 2026 : In line with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, a National Lok Adalat was held on March 14 in Kondagaon, facilitating the settlement of a significant motor accident claim.

The case pertained to a fatal road accident that occurred on December 19, 2024, resulting in the death of the victim. During the Lok Adalat proceedings, the matter was amicably resolved between the parties, and an award of ₹1,15,00,000 was granted as compensation to the bereaved family by the insurance company.

The settlement was facilitated in the court of Vikram Pratap Chandra, Additional District and Sessions Judge, with the involvement of Advocate Prashant Dutta and representatives of the insurance company. Following the agreement, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kiran Chaturvedi formally handed over a cheque of ₹1.15 crore to the victim’s family.

In addition to the compensation, saplings were distributed to the beneficiaries to promote environmental awareness and encourage conservation efforts.
