  • Supreme Court Collegium Clears Appointment of Five Permanent Judges to Chhattisgarh High Court

    Supreme Court of India

March 24, 2026 : The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on March 24, 2026, has approved the elevation of five Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the High Court of Chhattisgarh.

The judges whose appointments have been cleared are Justice Sachin Singh Rajput, Justice Radhakishan Agrawal, Justice Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, Justice Bibhu Datta Guru, and Justice Amitendra Kishore Prasad.

The decision forms part of the Collegium’s ongoing exercise to strengthen the judiciary by filling vacancies and ensuring continuity in judicial functioning at the High Court level. The confirmation of Additional Judges as Permanent Judges typically follows an assessment of their performance, integrity, and overall suitability during their tenure.

With these approvals, the Chhattisgarh High Court is expected to gain greater stability in its judicial roster, which may contribute to improved disposal rates and reduced pendency of cases. The move also reflects the Collegium’s continued focus on institutional efficiency and timely appointments in the higher judiciary.

The appointments will now proceed through the formal process of notification by the Central Government.
