April 2, 2026 : The Supreme Court has directed appellate tribunals to begin proceedings today to address the grievances of voters excluded from the list under the Special Interdepartmental Revision (SIR) framework. To ensure a comprehensive review, the court mandated that all supporting documents and information—submitted through both digital and physical channels—be made fully accessible to the tribunals for their final adjudications.
This directive was issued by a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, alongside Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi. During the hearing, the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Pal, provided an update on the progress, noting that approximately 200,000 names are being processed daily. He expressed confidence that the entire adjudication cycle will conclude by April 7.
The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for April 6 to monitor the progress of the inclusion process.
