Rs.15 Lakh Job Scam: Mother-Daughter Booked for Railway Recruitment Fraud

Bilaspur: A case of fraud involving ₹15 lakh on the pretext of securing a railway job has been reported in the Torwa police station area. According to police, N. Venkata Suryapratap, a retired employee residing at Sai Bhoomi Quarter No. 314A, has an unemployed son who had completed his education.

In August 2020, an acquaintance, Teneti Indrani from Visakhapatnam, called him claiming she could arrange a railway job for his son and initially demanded ₹6 lakh. When he refused to pay such a large amount, she asked for ₹4 lakh along with scanned copies of all his son’s documents via email. Trusting her, he transferred ₹4 lakh to the bank account of her daughter, Valiveti Venkata Naga Keerthi, and sent the documents.

Over time, the accused continued to delay the process citing COVID-19 and elections, while misleading the victim with claims of medical tests and interviews. On May 23, 2024, a forged appointment letter purportedly issued by the Railway Ministry was sent to the email ID of his son, N. Vijay Kishan.

When no job materialized by December 2024, the accused demanded an additional ₹12 lakh. The victim paid the amount in installments, bringing the total to ₹15 lakh. Later, upon verification, the appointment letter was found to be fake.

Based on the complaint, Torwa police have registered a case against Teneti Indrani and her daughter Valiveti Venkata Naga Keerthi under Section 318 and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is underway.
