Income Tax Department Invites Applications for Young Professionals 2026: Apply Offline by April 13

The Income Tax Department under the Ministry of Finance has released a notification inviting applications for engagement of Young Professionals in its legal and research functions. The opportunity is part of the department’s initiative to bring in young legal talent to assist in tax litigation and policy-related work.

As per the notification, a total of 4 Young Professional positions have been announced alongside Legal Consultant roles. The engagement will be on a contractual basis, initially for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and departmental requirements.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates applying for the Young Professional role must hold a degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university. In several instances, candidates with strong academic records (often at least 50% marks) are preferred.

The maximum age limit is generally 30 years for Young Professionals, with relaxations applicable as per government norms.

Salary and Benefits:
Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of ₹60,000, without additional allowances.

Role and Work Profile:
Young Professionals will assist the department in:

  • Legal research and drafting
  • Handling tax litigation matters
  • Supporting policy and advisory work

This role offers exposure to direct tax administration and litigation under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Application Process:
Applications must be submitted offline in the prescribed format. Candidates are required to send their completed application to the designated address mentioned in the official notification.

Last Date to Apply:
The deadline for submission of applications is April 13, 2026 (6:00 PM).

Interested candidates are advised to carefully review the official notification and ensure timely submission, as late or incomplete applications are liable to be rejected.
