Man Arrested for Alleged Rape on Pretext of Marriage in Kondagaon

April 6, 2026 : Kondagaon, April 8: Police in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the pretext of marriage.

According to police, the complaint was filed on April 6 at Farsagaon Police Station by the woman’s family. The accused, identified as Anand Mandavi, allegedly lured the woman with a promise of marriage and took her to multiple locations, where he is accused of sexually assaulting her.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant legal provisions, and an investigation was initiated. Taking the matter seriously, Superintendent of Police Trilok Bansal ordered the formation of a police team.

Acting under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kapil Chandra and supervision of SDOP Abhinav Upadhyay, a team led by Station House Officer Chandrashekhar Shrivas arrested the accused within a few hours.

The accused was later produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
