June 2, 2026 : The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of six advocates as judges of the Karnataka High Court, marking a significant addition to the strength of the state’s judiciary.
According to a statement issued after the Collegium meeting held on June 2, 2026, the apex court body cleared the proposal for the elevation of Shri Raghavendra Seetharam Srivatsa, Smt. Hema Kulkarni, Shri Subramanya Rangarao, Shri Thadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda, Shri Bakkeswara Pramod, and Shri Hombe Gowda Shanthi Bhushan as judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The decision was taken by the Supreme Court Collegium as part of the ongoing process to fill judicial vacancies and strengthen the functioning of constitutional courts across the country. The appointments are expected to enhance the disposal of cases and improve judicial efficiency in the Karnataka High Court.
The recommendations will now be forwarded for further processing in accordance with the established procedure for judicial appointments. Following approval by the Central Government and issuance of the warrant of appointment, the advocates will assume office as judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The latest recommendations reflect the Collegium’s continued efforts to bolster the judiciary by inducting experienced members of the Bar into the higher judicial service.
