WhatsApp-Based AI Service ‘Oilseeds Kisaan Mitra’ Brings Instant Crop Advisory to Oilseed Farmers

June 11, 2026 : As India enters the kharif sowing season, a WhatsApp-based artificial intelligence advisory platform, Oilseeds Kisaan Mitra, is helping farmers access scientific guidance on oilseed cultivation directly through their mobile phones, anytime and in their preferred language.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the initiative provides oilseed growers across the country with free, reliable and instant crop-related advisory services through WhatsApp. The platform is designed to bridge the gap between agricultural research and farmers by offering easy access to expert-backed information.

Farmers can save the number +91 4024598180 as Oilseeds Kisaan Mitra on WhatsApp and ask questions in any Indian language regarding the cultivation of major oilseed crops, including groundnut, mustard, sesame, sunflower, soybean, niger and others.

The Ministry said the service delivers research-based recommendations to help farmers make informed decisions on crop management, improve productivity and address cultivation-related challenges.

The Director of ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research (IIOR), Hyderabad, stated that Oilseeds Kisaan Mitra represents a significant milestone, marking the first time ICAR’s collective oilseed research expertise has been made directly accessible to farmers nationwide through a digital conversational platform.
