Punjab Launches Month-Long Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls from Today, Final Voter List on October 1

June 24, 2026 : Punjab will begin a month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from today, with the exercise continuing until July 24. The revision aims to update and verify the state’s voter database ahead of future elections.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra said the final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026. As part of the exercise, the rationalisation of polling booths will also be carried out by July 24, while the draft electoral roll will be released on August 3.

Eligible voters will be able to file claims and objections between August 3 and September 2. The notice period for the revision process will remain open from August 3 to September 28.

The CEO informed that voter mapping has already been completed for 86.02 percent of the electorate, covering around 1.84 crore voters across Punjab. Addressing concerns raised in media reports, Mitra clarified that voters whose details have not yet been mapped will not have their names automatically removed from the electoral rolls.

She assured that no eligible voter would be deleted from the voters’ list merely because the mapping process is pending, urging citizens to participate in the revision process to ensure accurate electoral records.
