Historic Reduction in Pending Cases in the Chhattisgarh High Court

July 27, 2026 : Under the visionary leadership and dynamic guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, the Chhattisgarh High Court has achieved remarkable success in the disposal of pending cases as of 27 July 2026. This achievement is the result of continuous and coordinated efforts aimed at making the Judicial system more efficient, responsive, and time-bound.

According to the available statistics, as on 1 January 2026, there were 75,667 pending cases before the Chhattisgarh High Court. During the period up to 27 July 2026, 30,715 new cases were instituted in the Court.

To ensure the expeditious and effective disposal of these cases, a special disposal drive was undertaken. As a result, 32,747 cases were success- fully disposed of by 27 July 2026, bringing the total number of pending cases down to 73,751. Consequently as of 27 July, the High Court recorded a net re- duction of 2.53% in pending cases.

A particularly noteworthy achievement is that the case disposal rate reached 106.21%, indicating that more old pending cases were disposed of than the number of new cases instituted during the period.

It is significant to note that the number of pending cases had in- creased during the summer vacation. Taking this situation seriously, Bench of Hon’ble the Chief Justice heard a large number of matters in his own Bench. Be- tween 1 July and 27 July 2026, spanning only 19 working days, His Lordship disposed of 2111 cases swiftly and effectively, thereby imparting remarkable momentum to the judicial process.

This remarkable accomplishment stands as a testament to the vision- ary leadership of Hon’ble the Chief Justice, the unwavering dedication of all Hon’ble Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court, and the sincere and coordinated efforts of the Judicial officers and court staff. Their collective commitment has not only enhanced the overall efficiency of the Judicial system but has also reaf- firmed the High Court’s steadfast resolve to provide speedy, effective, and acces- sible justice to the people of Chhattisgarh.
