President Droupadi Murmu has appointed 14 Judicial Officers as Judges and Additional Judges of the Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Jharkhand, and Karnataka High Courts. The appointments were made after consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
According to the Ministry of Law and Justice, the appointments include judicial officers being elevated as permanent judges as well as additional judges in the concerned High Courts.
Nivedita Anil Sharma and Nisha Sahay Saxena have been appointed as Judges of the Delhi High Court. In addition, five judicial officers have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court.
One judicial officer has also been appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
For the Jharkhand High Court, Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar and Ram Sharma have been appointed as Judges.
Meanwhile, three judicial officers have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The latest appointments are part of the ongoing process of strengthening the judicial strength of various High Courts and addressing vacancies in the higher judiciary. The appointment of judicial officers as Judges and Additional Judges is carried out in accordance with the constitutional framework governing appointments to the High Courts.
The appointments are expected to contribute to the effective functioning of the respective High Courts and help improve the capacity of the judiciary to deal with the growing pendency of cases.
