March 13, 2026 : N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired a review meeting on the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh at the state secretariat in Amaravati yesterday, along with officials from the Home Department.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the police department to rationalise the deployment of personnel to ensure there is no shortage of staff across the state. He asked officials to allocate police personnel based on local requirements, particularly in newly formed districts, sensitive areas and major temples that attract large numbers of visitors.
Mr Naidu noted that the overall crime rate in the state has declined by around six per cent and said the law and order situation remains under control. However, he expressed concern over the rising number of economic offences and cyber fraud cases, urging officials to take stronger measures to tackle these crimes.
He emphasised that maintaining a stable law and order environment is crucial for attracting investments into the state. The Chief Minister also directed officials to strengthen road safety measures and address accident risks at 503 identified black spots. He suggested establishing trauma care centres in areas where they are needed.
While pointing out that crimes against women have decreased, Mr Naidu said police must continue to remain alert and proactive.
The Chief Minister also proposed exploring the use of drones to monitor criminal activity and keep surveillance on rowdy sheeters. Referring to recent developments, he said police had identified rowdy gangs in Nellore and asked officials to examine whether similar groups are operating in other districts.
He further instructed police to intensify action against drug and ganja networks while also promoting rehabilitation through de-addiction centres. According to him, strict policing and consistent enforcement would create a strong deterrent against crime.
