  • Central Animal Husbandry Schemes Under Review in Durg, Balod and Bemetara

    Centre Reviews Livestock Schemes in Chhattisgarh | LawNotify.in

    Raipur, February 10, 2026 : The Government of India has initiated a field-level review of centrally sponsored animal husbandry schemes being implemented in Chhattisgarh. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, New Delhi, has deputed three National Level Monitors to assess on-ground execution in the districts of Durg, Balod and Bemetara. The monitoring visit is scheduled from February 9 to 14, 2026.

    The review covers key flagship schemes including the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, National Livestock Mission, National Programme for Dairy Development, and the Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme. The monitors are conducting field inspections to evaluate implementation progress, infrastructure readiness, beneficiary outreach, and service delivery standards. Two senior officials from the Government of India are also part of the visiting delegation.

    On the first day of the programme, a detailed briefing session was held at the Directorate level in Raipur. The Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary, Livestock Development Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, joined the meeting along with the nodal officer from the Government of India through virtual mode. The Director of Veterinary Services presented an overview of scheme implementation and progress achieved so far.

    The Agriculture Production Commissioner provided a consolidated summary of the schemes being executed across the state. Following this, senior official Mukesh Sharma from the Government of India reviewed the performance indicators and discussed compliance benchmarks.

    State-level nodal officers made detailed presentations on the implementation of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission and the National Programme for Dairy Development. Separate briefings were also given on activities being carried out under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme and the National Livestock Mission.

    Officials stated that the objective of these schemes is to ensure timely benefits to livestock farmers while strengthening veterinary infrastructure, breed improvement initiatives, dairy productivity, and disease control mechanisms across the state.

    Inspection of 1962 Mobile Veterinary Call Centre

    During the visit, the National Level Monitors and central representatives also inspected the 1962 Mobile Veterinary Unit call centre located within the Directorate premises. The team reviewed operational protocols, response mechanisms, and service delivery efficiency of the veterinary helpline.
