  • Chhattisgarh Accelerates on High-Growth Path with Unprecedented Central Support in Budget 2026-27

    Law Notify : The Union Budget 2026-27 has positioned Chhattisgarh on a robust high-growth trajectory through unprecedented central transfers and accelerated investments. This underscores the Government of India’s sustained commitment to infrastructure-led and inclusive development in the state.

    Key financial provisions include ₹50,427 crore earmarked for tax devolution and ₹15,000 crore in grants-in-aid for 2025-26. Cumulatively, from 2014 to 2026, Chhattisgarh has received ₹3.17 lakh crore in tax devolution and ₹1.14 lakh crore in grants-in-aid, significantly boosting its fiscal capacity.

    Infrastructure has seen transformative investments:

    • Railways: A massive expansion includes projects worth ₹34,427 crore dedicated in 2024, 100% broad-gauge electrification, and 25 new projects (2,731 km) with an investment of ₹37,018 crore since 2014. The average annual railway budget outlay soared from ₹311 crore (2009-14) to ₹6,922 crore (2024-25).
    • Roads: Over 3,389 km of National Highways built since 2014, with new Greenfield corridors under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and approved High-Speed Corridors enhancing connectivity.
    • Capital Expenditure: The state has received ₹9,459 crore under the Centre’s Special Assistance for Capital Expenditure scheme since 2020-21, accelerating infrastructure creation.
    • Energy & Air Connectivity: A major 1,600 MW grid interconnection project was inaugurated, and airports in Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, and Bilaspur have been operationalized under UDAN.

    Social infrastructure is also strengthened:

    • Education: 130 PM SHRI Schools, a Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur, and the permanent IIT Bhilai campus have been established.
    • Healthcare: Foundation stones laid for Critical Care Blocks in nine districts and five new medical colleges approved.
    • Welfare: Flagship schemes show deep penetration with over 1.86 crore Jan Dhan accounts, 2.43 crore Ayushman Bharat cards, 41 lakh rural tap water connections, and 38 lakh Ujjwala beneficiaries.

    Combined, the Budget 2026-27 provisions and sustained multi-sector investments reinforce Chhattisgarh’s role as a key engine in India’s journey toward a resilient and inclusive economy.
