Law Notify, January 17, 2026 : The Chief Secretary to the Government of Chhattisgarh, Shri Vikas Sheel, on Thursday called for the establishment of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in five districts of the State to strengthen skill development and employment opportunities for rural youth. He stressed that skill-based and employment-oriented training is essential to ensure meaningful participation of young people in the State’s development process.
He also urged banks to step up credit flow under priority sector lending and various government-sponsored schemes, emphasising the need for timely and adequate financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.
The Chief Secretary was chairing the quarterly meeting of the State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) held at Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur. The meeting reviewed the performance of banks operating in the State and deliberated on measures to deepen financial inclusion and improve the efficiency of credit delivery mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Shri Manoj Kumar, General Manager, State Bank of India; Smt. Niharika Bariq Singh, Principal Secretary; Smt. Rini Ajith, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India; Shri Shitanshu Shekhar, General Manager, NABARD; and several Secretaries of the State Government. Senior bank officials, heads of departments, and Lead Bank Managers from all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh were also present.
Highlighting the critical role of banks in economic growth, the Chief Secretary noted that India is moving steadily towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. In this context, he said banks must continue focused efforts to achieve comprehensive financial inclusion, particularly by expanding banking services in remote and rural areas. He assured banks of the State Government’s full cooperation in strengthening banking outreach and financial infrastructure.
He also appreciated the efforts of the State-Level Bankers’ Committee, the State Bank of India, and other banks for their contributions across sectors, and called for sustained and result-oriented implementation of government-sponsored credit schemes to support the State’s overall development.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Smt. Sheetal Shashwat Verma, Director (Institutional Finance), who thanked the Chief Secretary and all participating officials. She also expressed special appreciation to the SLBC and its convener, State Bank of India, for the smooth and successful conduct of the meeting.
