Chhattisgarh High Court Releases New Judicial Roster Effective April 8, 2026

April 4, 2026 : The High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur has officially released its new judicial roster, detailing a comprehensive reorganization of case assignments among Division and Single Benches. Issued under the authority of the Chief Justice on April 4, 2026, the updated schedule is set to take effect on April 8, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice. This administrative shift aims to streamline the adjudication process across various legal domains, including public interest litigation, criminal appeals, and civil writ matters.

Under the new arrangement, Division Bench-I, led by the Chief Justice and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, will preside over all Division Bench writ matters, public interest litigation, and habeas corpus petitions. Simultaneously, Division Bench-II, comprising Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal and Justice Sachin Singh Rajput, will focus on high-priority criminal matters, including capital case references and criminal appeals from 2021 onwards, alongside tax cases and company appeals. A third Division Bench has been tasked with matrimonial first appeals and specific ultra vires matters.

The roster also defines specialized roles for Single Benches to handle the court’s high volume of individual petitions. Notable assignments include the Chief Justice’s Special Bench, which will manage arbitration applications and bail matters, and various other Single Benches dedicated to service writs, motor vehicle accident claims, and contempt cases. This structured redistribution of the judicial workload highlights the court’s commitment to procedural efficiency and the timely delivery of justice for the people of Chhattisgarh.
