Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan on Tuesday stressed the need to reduce wastage and use technology to make manufacturing more sustainable, aligning these efforts with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
During his visit to the ongoing PLASTINDIA 2026 exhibition in New Delhi, the minister praised the plastics industry for working together on sustainable manufacturing while supporting national growth and self-reliance. He said innovation and responsible production would be key to balancing industrial expansion with environmental goals.
On the occasion, Mr Paswan released the Plastic Industry Status Report 2025. He also presented awards to winners of the Startup Search Initiative, an innovation programme developed by the Plastindia Foundation in collaboration with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park.
PLASTINDIA 2026 is among the world’s leading plastics exhibitions, bringing together industry leaders, global buyers, innovators, and policymakers from India and abroad. The event is being held at Bharat Mandapam and will conclude on the 10th of this month.
