New Delhi : Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant has urged lawyers to actively embrace modern technology, noting that the changing nature of crimes and disputes is reshaping the justice delivery system. He said the legal profession must evolve alongside these developments to remain effective and relevant.
The Chief Justice was speaking at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Hansi Bar Association at the local judicial complex on Thursday. Addressing judicial officers and members of the Bar, he observed that technological advancement is no longer optional in the judiciary, as courts increasingly deal with complex and technology-driven cases.
Justice Surya Kant pointed out that India’s strengthening economy has attracted higher levels of foreign investment, leading to a noticeable rise in commercial and corporate disputes. At the same time, he said, cyber crimes are growing rapidly, and cases involving digital forms of arrest and online fraud are becoming more common.
Emphasising preparedness, the Chief Justice advised lawyers to familiarise themselves with digital tools, electronic evidence, and emerging legal challenges linked to technology. He stressed that adapting to these changes would enable the legal community to better serve litigants and uphold the rule of law in a fast-evolving environment.
