Pakistani Airstrike on Kabul Hospital_ LawNotify.in

March 17, 2026 : At least 400 people were killed and around 250 others injured after a Pakistani airstrike struck a hospital in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, late last night. Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated that a significant portion of the hospital was destroyed, warning that the death toll could rise further.

According to Mujahid, the strike targeted a drug rehabilitation facility, where patients undergoing treatment were among the casualties. He accused Pakistan of once again violating Afghanistan’s airspace and carrying out attacks on civilian infrastructure.

The airstrike occurred just hours after reports of cross-border firing between Afghan and Pakistani forces along their shared border, indicating a sharp escalation in tensions between the two sides.

Reacting to the incident, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, expressed serious concern over the high number of civilian casualties. The International Human Rights Foundation also condemned the attack, emphasizing that hospitals and other public facilities must not be targeted under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, the situation in Kabul remains tense, with residents reporting ongoing aircraft activity over the city. In recent weeks, multiple strikes attributed to the Pakistani military have reportedly resulted in significant civilian casualties, further worsening instability in the region.
