Delhi NIA Court Convicts Asiya Andrabi, Two Others Under UAPA for Secessionist Activities

Delhi High Court

January 16, 2026 : A special court in Delhi dealing with NIA cases has convicted Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for her role in promoting secessionist ideology and actions deemed prejudicial to India’s sovereignty.

The court also found Andrabi’s associates Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen guilty, holding that all three were part of a criminal conspiracy to further an agenda aimed at separating Jammu and Kashmir from India. The prosecution established that they actively supported a banned organisation and coordinated efforts to undermine constitutional authority.

Andrabi, the founder of the proscribed outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat, was found to have used the platform to propagate extremist ideology, glorify violence, and encourage anti-national sentiments. The court accepted the prosecution’s case that the accused disseminated speeches, publications, and other material calling for secession and alignment with Pakistan.

In its verdict, the court said the evidence demonstrated a clear, coordinated attempt to promote disaffection against the state, attracting offences under the UAPA along with relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code relating to conspiracy and acts prejudicial to national integrity.

The case will now move to the sentencing stage, where the court will decide the quantum of punishment for the convicted persons.
