March 10, 2026 : Government sources on Tuesday clarified that the supply of diesel from India to Bangladesh is part of the routine and ongoing energy trade between the two countries.
According to officials, diesel is being supplied through the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, which has been operational since 2017. The pipeline enables the commercial supply of diesel from Assam’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited to Bangladesh.
Sources stated that the arrangement is a regular commercial transaction between the two neighbouring countries and forms part of their broader energy cooperation.
They also added that fuel availability within India is being closely monitored to ensure that domestic supply remains adequate while exports continue under existing agreements.
