  • Election Commission Appoints Central Observers for Five States, Names 25 Officials from West Bengal

    Law Notify : The Election Commission has appointed central observers for the forthcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. According to the official list released by the Commission, 25 senior officials from West Bengal have been selected for observer duties.

    The list includes 15 Indian Administrative Service officers, among them Home Secretary Jagdish Prasad Meena, along with 10 Indian Police Service officers. The Police Commissioners of Howrah and Asansol have also been included.

    The Election Commission said it had sought the required list of officials from the West Bengal government on at least five occasions. As no response was received within the prescribed timeframe, the Commission proceeded to finalise and publish the list independently.
