The Election Commission has issued a fresh directive to the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, urging the state government to immediately settle pending honorarium payments for officials and staff involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.
In its letter, the Commission stressed that payments must be released promptly and strictly in line with its earlier guidelines governing honorarium for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and Supervisors.
The Commission noted with concern that despite earlier communication on the matter, it has not received any update from the state regarding the clearance of the outstanding dues. The delay, it said, has persisted even after the issue was formally brought to the notice of the authorities.
Reiterating the urgency, the Election Commission has now instructed the state administration to ensure that all pending honorarium payments to the concerned officials and staff are cleared immediately, without any further delay.
