The Goa Book Festival opens today at the Campal Ground in Panaji, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurating the literary event. The festival brings together more than 200 stalls offering books in Konkani, Marathi and English, with visitors able to avail a flat 10 per cent discount across publishers.
Sharing details of the festival, Yuvraj Malik, Director of NBT India, and Kiran Thakur, Chairman of the Lokmanya Cultural Foundation, said the event aims to strengthen reading habits and celebrate Goa’s rich literary culture.
The festival features a strong lineup of speakers, including Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mrunal Kulkarni and Acharya Prashant. Entry to the festival is free for all visitors.
Alongside book sales and author interactions, the festival includes special exhibitions paying tribute to legendary cartoonist Mario Miranda, as well as workshops and activities designed specifically for children. Organisers said these initiatives are meant to make the festival accessible and engaging for readers of all ages.
The Goa Book Festival will run through the weekend and conclude on Sunday.
