March 19, 2026 : Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, has achieved a significant academic milestone, with its all-women team qualifying for the World Rounds of the 13th International Bar Association–International Criminal Court (IBA–ICC) Moot Court Competition.

The national rounds of the competition were held from March 13 to 15, 2026, at National Law University, New Delhi, and witnessed participation from leading law schools across the country. Demonstrating strong advocacy skills, rigorous legal research, and effective courtroom presentation, the HNLU team secured its place among the top teams advancing to the international stage.

The team comprises second-year students Anwesha Gupta, Ruchika Nagpal, Pari Aggarwal, Dimpal Khatri, and Anushka Sharma. They will represent India at the World Rounds scheduled to be held in June 2026 at The Hague, Netherlands, a global centre for international law.

This achievement carries added significance as it marks HNLU’s first-ever qualification for the World Rounds of the prestigious competition. The 2026 moot problem dealt with complex and contemporary issues in international criminal law, including attacks on humanitarian assistance vessels, immunity of incumbent State officials, and legal questions surrounding extradition and rendition.

The Vice-Chancellor of HNLU congratulated the team for their exemplary performance, observing that the accomplishment reflects discipline, intellectual rigour, and institutional excellence. The Moot Court Committee also commended the students, highlighting the strength of the university’s mooting culture.

The university community has expressed pride in the achievement and extended its best wishes to the team for continued success at the international level.
