HNLU Raipur Launches National FDP on Emerging Trends in Intellectual Property Law

March 7, 2026 : Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, through its DPIIT-IPR Chair initiative, has commenced a ten-day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Emerging IP Jurisprudence and Evolving Trends of IP Teaching & Research.”

The inaugural session featured a keynote lecture by Antony Taubman, Director of the Intellectual Property Division at the World Trade Organization (WTO). He underscored the growing significance of intellectual property in shaping global trade and innovation, emphasizing the need for responsive legal frameworks to address challenges posed by rapidly advancing technologies. His address also examined the areas of convergence and divergence between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the WTO, encouraging deeper academic engagement with contemporary issues in international IP governance.

Opening the programme, Vice Chancellor Prof. Vivekanandan highlighted the transformation of innovation into marketable assets and the importance of navigating complex international IP regimes in a globalized economy.

The FDP, curated by Dr. Ankit Singh, IP Chair in-charge, along with his team, will run from April 6 to 16 and includes 20 intensive sessions. With participation from over 70 attendees, including law faculty, researchers, and industry professionals, the programme aims to strengthen research capacity and promote interdisciplinary scholarship in the dynamic field of intellectual property law.
