March 06, 2026 : India booked a place in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup after defeating England by seven runs in the second semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai last night.
Chasing a daunting target of 254, England managed 246 for 7 in their 20 overs. Earlier, batting first, India posted a massive 253 for 7. Sanju Samson led the charge with a brilliant 89 off 42 balls, while Shivam Dube added a valuable 43 runs. For England, Jacob Bethell played a superb knock of 105 off 48 balls but fell short of taking his team over the line. Samson was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
India will now take on New Zealand in the final on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the Indian men’s cricket team for reaching the final. In a social media post, he described the semi-final win over England as a resounding victory and praised the team’s determination and hard work. He also extended his best wishes to the team for the upcoming final.
