March 03, 2026 : The Embassy of India in Muscat, Oman, has expressed deep condolences over the death of an Indian national aboard the oil tanker MKD Vyom, which was struck by a bomb-laden drone in the Gulf of Oman on Tuesday.
In a statement shared on social media, the Embassy said it is in close coordination with Omani authorities to ensure the safe and early repatriation of Indian nationals who were on board the vessel at the time of the incident. It added that all possible assistance is being extended to those affected.
According to reports, the tanker was hit by an explosive drone while navigating through the Gulf of Oman. Further details about the extent of damage to the vessel and the condition of other crew members are awaited.
