    March 10, 2026 : A dignified felicitation ceremony was held on 10 March 2026 at the Unity Auditorium of the High Court of Chhattisgarh in Bilaspur to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026. The programme brought together members of the judiciary, the legal fraternity, and court staff to recognise the achievements and contributions of women associated with the justice delivery system.

    The event began with the arrival of the Hon’ble Judges and distinguished guests, followed by the National Anthem. The formal inauguration of the programme took place with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The session was inaugurated by Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.

    During the ceremony, 54 women officers, advocates, staff members and women working in different capacities connected with the judicial system were felicitated. They were honoured in recognition of their dedicated service and contributions across various fields linked to the administration of justice. The felicitation acknowledged the growing role of women in strengthening the judiciary and supporting the justice delivery mechanism.

    Addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Justice Ramesh Sinha delivered the keynote speech and highlighted the invaluable contributions made by women in every sphere of society. He spoke about the strength, resilience and commitment demonstrated by women who continue to play an essential role in shaping a progressive and inclusive nation.

    Referring to the theme “Give to Gain,” the Chief Justice observed that empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities at both the Bench and the Bar strengthens the judiciary, promotes the rule of law and reinforces democratic values. He emphasised that institutions must collectively work to remove barriers that hinder the growth and advancement of women.

    Justice Sinha also appreciated the dedication of women serving across different levels of the judicial system in the state, including the High Court, District Courts, Civil Courts and other allied departments. He underlined that creating an environment of equality and opportunity within the justice system is essential for institutional progress.

    Concluding his address, the Chief Justice called for renewed commitment toward gender equality and stated that empowering women ultimately contributes to the overall progress and prosperity of the nation.

    The ceremony served as a meaningful occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women connected with the judiciary. It provided a platform to express gratitude and respect for their service and left an inspiring impact on the attendees.

    The vote of thanks was delivered by the Additional Director of the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy, who expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, organisers and participants for making the event successful.

    The programme was attended by the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, the Registrar General, officers of the Registry, officials of the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority. Trainee Civil Judges of the 2025 batch were also present at the event.

    Among the members of the legal fraternity who attended were the Advocate General, the Deputy Solicitor General, the Additional Advocate General, the Deputy Advocate General, Government Advocates and Deputy Government Advocates. Office bearers and members of the High Court Bar Association, representatives of the State Bar Council, senior advocates, advocates and judicial staff of the High Court also participated in the ceremony.

    As per the directions of the Chief Justice, International Women’s Day was also celebrated in District Courts across Chhattisgarh. On the occasion, female judicial officers, women employees, Class-III and Class-IV women staff and women working in different capacities were felicitated in recognition of their valuable contribution to the justice delivery system.

    The celebrations across the state highlighted the important role played by women in the functioning of courts and reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to promoting gender equality and recognising excellence in public service.
