Proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram were repeatedly disrupted on Tuesday as opposition members protested over the Sabarimala gold case. The situation escalated when Assembly Watch and Ward staff removed an opposition MLA who attempted to jump onto the Speaker’s dais during the commotion.
Outside the House, two opposition MLAs continued a sit-in protest in front of the Assembly building, pressing for the resignation of Devaswom Minister M.B. Rajesh over the controversy.
Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan accused the government of mishandling the investigation, alleging that delays and procedural lapses were allowing the accused to secure statutory bail. He claimed that the probe had failed to achieve any meaningful progress so far.
Rejecting the allegations, Minister Rajesh said the opposition was disrupting the House without even submitting an adjournment motion to raise the issue formally. He maintained that the inquiry was moving forward and was being carried out under the supervision of the High Court.
