French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the 52nd G7 Summit, which France will host in 2026. Speaking at a press interaction in Mumbai, Macron said he has proposed an ad hoc meeting between India and France to align their positions on key international issues ahead of the summit, scheduled to be held in Evian.
He noted that the coming year presents a unique opportunity to deepen cooperation, as India will chair the BRICS Summit while France assumes the presidency of the G7. Macron described this parallel leadership as a moment to strengthen strategic coordination and bring fresh ideas to global discussions.
Highlighting the growing partnership between the two countries, he also called for a phase of innovation focused on young people from India and France, suggesting stronger collaboration in areas such as technology, education, and entrepreneurship.
The G7 Summit is an annual meeting of leaders from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Canada, and the European Union. In 2025, Prime Minister Modi attended the summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
