Meerut College, affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, has announced the organization of its 1st National Moot Court Competition, 2026, scheduled to be held on April 18 and 19 at the Department of Law, Meerut College.
The competition is being conducted by the Moot Court Committee of the college and aims to bring together law students from institutions across the country. As outlined in the official brochure, the event will feature multiple rounds including preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and a final round, providing participants with a platform to showcase their advocacy, research, and legal reasoning skills.
The moot proposition centers around contemporary environmental and constitutional law issues, including groundwater regulation, public trust doctrine, and sustainable development. The problem is designed to test participants on complex legal questions such as the balance between environmental protection and economic development, as well as constitutional validity of regulatory frameworks.
Participation is open to law students enrolled in three-year or five-year LL.B. courses from recognized institutions. Each team can consist of up to three members, including two speakers and one researcher. The official language of the competition will be English, and strict rules regarding memorial submissions, oral rounds, and evaluation criteria have been prescribed.
As per the schedule provided in the brochure, the last date for registration and fee payment is March 30, 2026, while memorial submissions are due in early April. The event will commence with an inauguration and researcher’s test, followed by oral rounds across two days.
The competition offers prizes worth ₹51,000, with awards for winners, runners-up, best mooter, best researcher, and best memorial. In addition to cash prizes, participants will receive certificates and trophies.
With a legacy dating back to 1892, Meerut College and its Department of Law are known for their contribution to legal education in North India. The institution aims to use this national moot court platform to foster academic excellence, practical advocacy skills, and professional competence among budding legal professionals.
