National Conference on Workplace Safety for Women to Be Held at Vigyan Bhawan

The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organise a National Conference on Safety of Women at Workplace, centred around the SHe-Box initiative, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi tomorrow.

The conference is aimed at promoting safe, dignified and harassment-free workplaces for women across all sectors. It will also focus on strengthening the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi and Minister of State Savitri Thakur are expected to attend the event, along with senior officials from various central ministries, departments, and representatives from states and Union Territories. A National Workplace Safety Pledge will be administered during the conference to reaffirm the government’s commitment to ensuring safer work environments for women.

The Ministry launched the SHe-Box portal in August 2024 as a secure, multilingual, single-window platform designed to simplify the process of filing complaints related to workplace sexual harassment. The portal allows women to submit complaints online with strict confidentiality. Once filed, complaints are automatically forwarded to the appropriate Internal Committee or Local Committee, with provisions for real-time tracking to improve transparency and accountability under the POSH Act.

In addition to handling complaints, the SHe-Box portal also functions as a resource hub. Organisations can upload compliance-related details, including information about Internal Committees, annual reports, and awareness or training initiatives, helping to ensure better monitoring and effective implementation of the law.
