March 25, 2026 : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Raipur, in connection with the reported death of three sanitation workers during the cleaning of a septic tank at a private hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, the Commission has directed the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report within two weeks. As per media reports, the incident occurred on the 17th of this month.

The NHRC’s intervention seeks to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and ascertain whether any violation of human rights or negligence was involved.
