March 17, 2026 : A Special NIA Court at Patiala House in Delhi has remanded seven foreign nationals to 11 days of custody with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The accused include three Ukrainian nationals arrested in Delhi, three individuals detained in Lucknow, and one US citizen apprehended in Kolkata.

The hearing was conducted in a closed courtroom by Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma. The NIA had initially sought 15 days of custody to further its investigation.

According to the agency, the accused entered India on valid visas but later traveled to Mizoram, a protected area requiring special permission. From there, they allegedly crossed into Myanmar, where they established contact with ethnic armed groups.

The NIA claims that the individuals received training in Myanmar and were also involved in imparting training to these groups, some of which are linked to insurgent organizations operating in India. Investigators have further alleged that the accused facilitated the movement of a large consignment of drones from Europe into India.
