Raipur, January 12, 2026 : The Higher Education Department of the Chhattisgarh government has taken strict administrative action in a serious case of financial irregularities, suspending the principal and five faculty members of Government Model Women’s College, Narayanpur with immediate effect. The action follows allegations of misuse of funds allocated under the PM Usha scheme and non-compliance with prescribed financial rules.
According to the official order, preliminary findings indicate irregularities in procurement of materials, procedural lapses, and violations of the Chhattisgarh Financial Rules Code, 2002 (amended 2025). Those suspended include Principal Dr. Yogendra Patel and Assistant Professors Bhushan Jai Goyal, Kishor Kumar Kothari, Harish Chand Baid, and Nohar Ram.
All officials have been suspended under Rule 9(1)(a) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966. During the suspension period, their headquarters have been fixed at the office of the Regional Additional Director, Jagdalpur, and they will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.
The Higher Education Department has clarified that a separate departmental inquiry will be conducted into the matter, paving the way for stricter action if the charges are proven. The government’s move is being seen as part of its zero-tolerance approach towards misuse of public funds.
