Law Notify : The Puducherry Government has prohibited the sale of three cough syrups after quality testing found them to be not of standard quality. The products barred from sale are Respi Fresh, manufactured by Rednex Pharmaceuticals of Ahmedabad; Respifresh-TR, produced by Edkem Pharmaceuticals of Ahmedabad; and Medikof-D Syrup, manufactured by Indian Drug Vision Company of Uttarakhand.
In an order issued by the Department of Drug Control, all medicine wholesalers, retailers, government pharmacies, ESI Central Store, and the JIPMER pharmacy have been directed to immediately stop purchasing and selling these syrups within the Union Territory. The establishments have also been instructed to report existing stock to the Department of Drug Control and return the same to the respective manufacturers or distributors.
