    March 16, 2026 : The Rajya Sabha on Monday bid farewell to nominated member and former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, whose term in the Upper House concluded today.

    When the House assembled at 11 a.m., Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan announced the completion of Mr Gogoi’s tenure. He noted that Mr Gogoi had joined the Upper House in March 2020 after being nominated by the President of India.

    The Chairman said that as a distinguished jurist and former Chief Justice of India, Mr Gogoi brought exceptional legal insight and extensive judicial experience to the deliberations of the House. He added that Mr Gogoi’s contributions during debates reflected a deep understanding of the legislative process and a strong commitment to issues of public interest.

    Mr Radhakrishnan expressed appreciation for Mr Gogoi’s service in the Rajya Sabha and wished him continued success in contributing to the nation in various capacities with the same dedication, integrity and sense of public service that marked his career.
