Law Notify, January 15, 2026 : The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Election Commission of India to make public the names of voters excluded from the draft electoral rolls in Kerala after the Special Intensive Revision process. The Court said the list of excluded names must be displayed at the offices of the concerned gram panchayats or other public offices in villages, and also uploaded on the official website of the Election Commission of India.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, was hearing petitions that questioned the manner in which the SIR exercise is being carried out in the state. During the hearing, the Court observed that transparency was essential to protect voters’ rights and ensure that affected individuals are informed about deletions.

The Bench also indicated that the Commission may consider extending the deadline for filing objections against exclusions from the draft rolls, keeping in mind the scale of the exercise and the need to provide a fair opportunity to voters.
