Teacher Arrested Within Hours in Alleged Rape Case in Kondagaon

April 8, 2026 : Police in Kondagaon district quickly arrested an accused in a rape case reported under the Dhanora police station area.

According to the police, the victim filed a complaint stating that she already knew the accused, identified as Himanshu Meshram, who works as a teacher. She alleged that he called her to meet him on the promise of marriage. When she reached, he allegedly took her to his rented house and forced physical relations against her will.

The complaint further stated that when the accused later refused to marry her, she decided to approach the police and file a case.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Dhanora police station and an investigation was immediately started. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a police team was formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police Trilok Bansal.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Kapil Chandra and supervision of SDOP Arun Kumar Netam. The team, led by Station In-charge Bhuneshwar Nag, detained the accused and questioned him.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime. After gathering sufficient evidence, the police formally arrested him. He is being presented before the court, and further legal proceedings, including judicial remand, are underway.
