UPSC Introduces New Digital Measures, Expands Exam Centres for CSE and IFoS 2026

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has rolled out a series of new technology-driven initiatives for this year’s Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service Examination (IFoS), with a focus on improving candidate access and tightening examination security.

According to the Commission, a redesigned online application portal has been introduced to simplify the application process while ensuring greater integrity at every stage of the examination cycle. The new system is intended to make registrations smoother for candidates and reduce procedural hurdles.

One of the key changes under the revised framework is the removal of any cap on examination centre capacity for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), ensuring better accessibility and accommodation. UPSC has also expanded its examination footprint by adding three new centres each for the Preliminary and Main examinations. Meerut, Kanpur, and Bhubaneswar have been included as new centres for the Preliminary examination, while Bhubaneswar, Srinagar, and Imphal have been added for the Main examination. The Commission has simultaneously begun surveying candidate preferences to guide the addition of more centres in the future.

For the current examination cycle, UPSC has notified a total of 933 vacancies under the Civil Services Examination and 80 vacancies under the Indian Forest Service Examination.
